Miniatures Contest

Every few months we will sponsor an art contest. Check here for details on upcoming and recent competitions.

June 2008 - Tarot

The Tarot contest has a deadline of June 21, 2008 at 4pm. The jurors will be Caroline de Gruchy, Director at C.R. Visuals, and Craig Musselman from Worth1000 with its own series of competitions for digital artists.

The theme for June is the Tarot card. You must design/represent one of the major arcana including the back of the card. No digital files. The artwork must be delivered to the Drop-in-Design Centre at 1334 King. St. E., Kitchener ON N2G 2N7 on or before June 21, 2008 at 4pm.

All artwork must conform to the definition of miniatures as laid out below.

Miniatures

The spirit of miniature artworks is that they be at 1/6 scale. However, since the subject can be landscapes or ladybugs, there are limits to this as a working definition. For the purposes of this exhibit:

2D works: The image size must not exceed 100 square centimeters, or 16 square inches including the framing. There must also be some miniaturization on realistic subjects so that they are rendered less than life size.

Sculpture: Sculptures must be less than 7.5 x 7.5 x 10cm or 3" x 3" x 4".

For more information on miniature art, consult Art-in-Miniature.org.
